Planning a Field Trip

Haystack Rock is a great destination for field trips! The Haystack Rock Awareness Program (HRAP) provides educational field trip programs that integrate observation, investigation, and exploration. The Marine Garden at Haystack Rock is home to many intertidal organisms like sea stars and hermit crabs. The National Wildlife Refuge provides essential nesting habitat for both shorebirds and seabirds.

Please schedule group field trips in advance. All group requests are confirmed in the order received starting February 1.

By scheduling, you are helping HRAP give a positive educational experience for as many students as possible while preventing unnecessary damage to this protected area. To better make sure a spot on your preferred field trip date we recommend scheduling trips at least two months in advance.

For scheduling tips and more information about our field trip programs please read our Educator’s Guide.
